Ordway Research Institute, Inc. is a not-for-profit, freestanding corporation with specific research themes and a mission to translate basic science observations into therapeutics. The Institute is committed to fostering inter-institutional, competitively-funded research. The research themes of the Institute expand on existing regional programs of excellence. Ordway’s research takes place in The Center for Medical Science building at University Heights in Albany that houses the Institute’s researchers and investigators, plus research teams from the Wadsworth Center/New York State Department of Health and the Albany College of Pharmacy. The Center for Medical Science is the first research laboratory facility conceived in the region to serve multiple research institutions. The ambition of the Center reflects the idea that a nationally competitive, critical mass of research scientists in the Capital District can be assembled by meaningful collaboration among the region’s academic and governmental research institutions.

Ordway has recruited senior investigators and program leaders to its areas of research emphasis. Entrepreneurial science at Ordway is fostered through its association with the Charitable Leadership Foundation (CLF) Medical Technology Acceleration Program, Inc. (MTAP). MTAP and Ordway Research Institute, Inc., are beneficiaries of the Charitable Leadership Foundation, a philanthropy committed to heightening and refining the research profile of the Capital District of New York State.
