The Target and Drug Discovery Facility ( TDDF ) developed jointly by Ordway Research Institute and Wadsworth Center, aims to assist researchers in a variety of projects. This recently established, fully equipped facility has a full time staff of three and can undertake the following.

  • DNA sequencing services TDDF LIMS and analysis of gene expression by real-time PCR, for further information, fee schedule, and request forms, contact.

The facility is equipped with an ABI 3730 DNA sequencer, and an ABI 7900HT real-time PCR machine ABI

  • The TDDF will also offer advice on the development and optimization of assays designed to screen for small molecules that perturb specific biological functions

Researchers can also be advised on the development of either cell-based or enzymatic assays in 96 or 384 well plate format. A variety of assays can be fully automated which allows high throughput screening of our diversified libraries. The Sciclone liquid handling system is linked to an incubator, plate washer and Synergy HT plate reader through a Twister II robot with multi-plate stacker. Two additional Rapid Plate liquid handling systems are also available and a can be integrated or used as a stand alone.

  • In addition the facility is equipped to develop retroviral, lentiviral and plasmid vectors for the expression of genes or trans-dominant genetic inhibitors.
  • Identifying genes responsible for biologically or medically important phenotypes through function-based selection.

For further information and initial advice on implementing cell based screens please contact. tddf@ordwayresearch.org or phone; (518) 641-6491
